June 8, Vitebsk / Olga Bogacheva - BELTA /. In the Vitebsk region, Br2.8 billion has been allocated for the organization of secondary employment for schoolchildren and students of vocational education in 2010, the first deputy chairman of the committee for labor, employment and social protection of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Irina Matveeva, told a BELTA correspondent. It is planned to employ over 4.5 thousand young people with the allocated funds. Based on the results of January-May, 1.3 thousand people found their temporary place of work. At the same time, most students who wish to spend their free time productively will start working during the long summer holidays. The main jobs that young people will be engaged in will include current repairs of educational premises and school furniture, landscaping and greening of school grounds, restoration of library book collections, repair of sports grounds and equipment, and sewing of bed linen. "Labor activity allows young people to acquire or improve their professional skills. In addition, the opportunity to earn pocket money through their own labor allows teenagers to increase their self-esteem, feel more independent, so many young people actively use it," noted Irina Matveeva. -0-
