Almost 7,000 pupils and students will be sent to harvest crops in the Vitebsk region
To date, the Vitebsk Regional Labor Corps has employed about 3,000 people, with a total of 244 contracts signed for 4,017 people. Agricultural organizations in the Vitebsk region are preparing to receive detachments, where 6,700 students will be sent for the harvest in September-October.
The process of signing contracts and forming detachments is ongoing, as reported at the plenum of the regional committee of the BRSM. Young people do not need to be forced to work now; there are more people willing to work this year than there are vacancies. The level of training of students for work in detachments has also increased. Thanks to the education department of the regional executive committee, about 280 young people have received construction specialties through 10-month courses funded by the budget. Many schoolchildren also wish to work during their summer holidays. However, according to regulatory documents, they are prohibited from performing more than 150 types of work, with only about 70 permitted. This means additional hassle, obligations, and responsibility for minors for employers, which many are not prepared for.
– But there are also organizations that we haven't reached ourselves, and we haven't informed young people about our opportunities in a timely manner. Not everyone looks for work through the BRSM, so we need to improve our information work mechanisms, – believes Yulia Butor, First Secretary of the BRSM Regional Committee.
The Braslav, Dokshytsy, Miory, Sennno, and Tolochin district committees of the BRSM are best coping with the tasks of organizing secondary employment. 57 people are working at the regional youth construction site in Gorodok; detachments have been accepted here by SU No. 38 of OAO "Stroyтрест № 9, Vitebsk" and UP "Vitek". Students from VSTU and PSU are involved in the Belarusian NPP. Foreign service detachments have departed from the Vitebsk region to the All-Russian Children's Center "Orlyonok" (Tuapse district) and the resort complex "Nadezhda," where students have been hired by a 5-star hotel. 22 people have been sent to the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug.
The employment of youth is a matter of special concern for the regional leadership. As noted by Vladimir Terentyev, Deputy Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee, if in previous years it was difficult to work with universities and district executive committees regarding the secondary employment of students, then this year they themselves showed initiative and, long before the start of the work semester, were concerned about what young people would do in the summer and how they could help their region. Such a position is understandable, as this is an important and necessary undertaking, an opportunity not only to earn extra money but also to foster workers, leaders, and patriots.
