The 4th academic quarter has begun in the Vitebsk region: what measures have been taken to ensure the safety of schoolchildren?

The fourth quarter began in the republic's schools on April 20 and will last until May 30. As reported by Dmitry Khoma, Head of the Main Department for Education of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, a set of measures has been provided to ensure the safe presence of schoolchildren and teachers in educational institutions – from hand washing to social distancing.

Disinfectants have been purchased in the required quantities, and children are recommended to have protective masks with them. Interaction between students from different classes has been minimized. Given that not all children returned to school on April 20, there is an opportunity to seat students while maintaining the necessary distance.

– Some parents exercised their right to keep their child at home, which means they must take care of how the child will study, – noted Dmitry Leonidovich. – Acceptable work options should be found together with the school, in particular, studying academic subjects according to an individual plan.

Dmitry Khoma pointed out that teachers used the three holiday weeks to prepare for the fourth quarter, considering various scenarios. Each school has its own specific mechanism or experience.

As reported by Olga Lapatinskaya, Rector of the Vitebsk Regional Institute for the Development of Education, a thematic media guide on academic subjects has been posted on the institution's official website. It includes recommended content from open internet sources as well as video lessons developed by leading educators of the Vitebsk region.
