IT classes are being created in the Vitebsk region
The first four IT classes will appear this year based on 5th and 10th grades in educational institutions of the regional center. Thus, at Gymnasium No. 1 named after Zh.I. Alferov, an IT class began functioning in September. At Gymnasium No. 5 named after I.I. Lyudnikov and Secondary Schools No. 47 and No. 31, they are currently being formed. School teachers, faculty members of the VSU Faculty of Mathematics and Information Technologies, and IT company specialists will conduct the classes. The educational process will be carried out in close cooperation with leading IT companies in Belarus. This way, students will be able to learn about the nature of their work, visit the offices of these companies, and meet specialists in person.
"For a future IT specialist, it is necessary to start forming a special, algorithmic way of thinking already in school years. Currently, various kinds of electives at educational institutions are engaged in this. At the same time, due to their remoteness from the IT industry itself, teachers of elective classes do not always know all the modern trends and the relevance of a particular field. On the other hand, higher education institutions closely cooperate with IT companies and are aware of all the requirements for the knowledge, skills, and abilities of specialists in this field, so the creation of IT classes is a relevant direction in education," noted Sergey Shpakov.
Next year, it is planned to expand the network of IT classes in the Vitebsk region, and the project itself will be presented at the republican competition of innovative projects of the Ministry of Education.
