797 polling stations have been established in the Vitebsk region for the local council deputy elections

797 polling stations have been established in the Vitebsk region for the local Council of Deputies elections, the regional executive committee reported.

36 polling stations have been set up in sanatoriums, health resorts, rest homes, hospitals and other healthcare organizations providing inpatient medical care, and another 2 in military units. Compared to the 2014 local elections, the number of polling stations has decreased by approximately 8%, which is due to demographic processes. From the moment polling stations are established, the nomination of representatives to the precinct election commissions begins. This right is held by political parties, other public associations, work collectives, as well as citizens.

District and city executive committees, which form the commissions, have published information on the place and time of document acceptance on their official websites, including work schedules for December 31, when the nomination period ends. Precinct election commissions must be formed no later than January 3, 2018.

A total of 3112 deputies are to be elected in the Vitebsk region in the elections on February 18, including 2253 for rural and settlement councils, 133 for city councils, 666 for district councils, and also 60 deputies for the regional Council.
