In the Vitebsk region, a fundraising campaign has been organized for the improvement of monuments to WWII soldiers

Public organizations of the Vitebsk region are calling for fundraising to improve memorial sites related to the Great Patriotic War. The appeal to the residents of the region was adopted today at a plenum of the Vitebsk regional council of the Belarusian public association of veterans, reports a BELTA correspondent.

On the eve of the 70th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders and the 70th anniversary of the victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War, the regional council of veterans, the regional committee of the Belarusian Republican Youth Union, and the regional branch of the Belarusian Peace Fund appealed to other public organizations, labor collectives, and residents of the region with a call to join the collection of voluntary donations for the improvement of memorial sites, mass graves of heroes of the Great Patriotic War, and the updating of expositions in museums of military brotherhood and military glory. "To preserve for future generations examples of courage and valor of previous generations, the memory of tragic military events and their victims is our sacred duty, an integral part of the patriotic education of the population, especially the youth," the appeal states.

A special settlement account has been opened for collecting funds: Vitebsk regional branch of the Belarusian Peace Fund No. 3015411066039 at the directorate of OJSC "Belinvestbank" for the Vitebsk region, Vitebsk, Lenin St., 16, code 153001739, UNP 300126736, OKPO 0583697.
