12 thousand hectares of grain crops remain unharvested in the Vitebsk region

In the Vitebsk region, 12 thousand hectares of grain crops remain unharvested, as reported by Vladimir Grakun, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food.

"Grain harvesting in Belarus is practically completed, with only about 12 thousand hectares of grain crops remaining to be harvested in the Vitebsk region," said the Deputy Minister. According to Vladimir Grakun, the work is hindered by rains. "As soon as the rains stop and the combines can go out to the fields, we will complete the grain harvesting. As for corn, we have just started harvesting it," he noted.

The Deputy Minister emphasized that this year Belarusian farmers expect to harvest more than 8 million tons of grain crops, excluding corn. "This is across all categories of farms – agricultural organizations, farms, and personal subsidiary plots," he clarified. According to operational information from the Ministry of Agriculture and Food, as of September 18, 99.1% of the grain and leguminous crop areas (including buckwheat and millet) have been harvested in agricultural organizations of Belarus, yielding 7.6 million tons of grain. On average, farmers are harvesting 35.7 centners of grain per hectare this year.
