In the Vitebsk region, 55,000 schoolchildren will be recuperated during the summer season, the head of the representative office "Vitebsk Regional Department of the Republican Center for Health Improvement and Sanatorium-Resort Treatment of the Population" Elena Andreykova told a BELTA correspondent. In total, this summer in the region there will be 35 stationary camps with round-the-clock stay of children, 13 camps in rented areas, specialized camps with a nine-day stay, which will receive 24,000 children and adolescents during the season, as well as 630 day camps, where 31,000 children will rest. The first to open their doors hospitably in the region were day camps "Magistral", "Telekom" (Vitebsk district) and the camp of PRUP "Vitebskoblgaz" (Shumilino district), which received 700 children and adolescents. Also, 480 day camps started their work. In them, 24,000 schoolchildren will rest during the first shift. "The main mass of camps will open in the region before June 15. Currently, their active acceptance is underway," Elena Andreykova noted, adding that Br534.4 million from state social insurance funds have been allocated for the preparation of facilities for children, and Br960 million from the regional budget. In addition, Br2.5 billion earned during the republican subbotnik will be directed to these purposes. The main part of the amount from the latter source of funding will go to strengthen the material and technical base of the "Vityaz" camp, which the joint-stock company of the same name is transferring to communal ownership. -0-
