In the Vitebsk region, it is planned to vaccinate up to 30% of the population against influenza in 2011
April 22, Vitebsk / Olga Bogacheva - BELTA /. In the Vitebsk region, it is planned to cover 30% of the population with preventive flu vaccinations in 2011. This was reported to a BELTA correspondent by Vladimir Sinkevich, chief physician of the Vitebsk Regional Center for Hygiene, Epidemiology and Public Health.
20% of the population will be vaccinated at the expense of the republican and local budgets. The vaccine for this has already been ordered. It is planned that the remaining 10% will be residents of the region who will get vaccinated at their own expense, as well as employees whose vaccination will be paid for by enterprises and organizations. Sanitary and epidemiological service specialists are carrying out extensive work with enterprises, Vladimir Sinkevich emphasized, noting that many managers understand the importance of immunization as an economically viable measure.
In the 2010/2011 epidemiological season, about 285,000 people, or every fifth resident of the region, received flu and ARVI vaccinations. At the same time, 177.2 thousand people were vaccinated at the expense of the local budget, 77.5 thousand - at the expense of the republican budget, and more than 3 thousand - at their own expense. At the expense of enterprises and organizations, 28,000 people were vaccinated last season, which is 3.6 times more compared to 2009. -0-
