In the Vitebsk region, they plan to complete sowing by the beginning of May

In the Vitebsk region, the spring sowing campaign is in full swing. As of yesterday, 163.2 thousand hectares of early spring cereals, grains and legumes have been sown, which is 73 percent of the plan. In general, the sowing campaign should be completed by the beginning of May, Yuri Romanov, Deputy Head of the Department of Agriculture, Crop Production, and Fodder Production of the Vitebsk Regional Agricultural Production Department, told "SG".
Two districts – Dubrovensky and Orshansky – have completed sowing. They are followed by Beshenkovichsky, Verkhnedvinsky, Chashniksky, Dokshitsky, Polotsky, and Tolochinsky regions. Braslavsky, Gluboksky, Gorodoksky, Lioznensky, Rossonovsky, Ushachsky, and Shumilinsky districts need to get more actively involved. There is enough fuel, and there are personnel, Yuri Anatolyevich notes:
— After the weekend, sowing of vegetables will be added to grains and flax.
The work in the fields of JSC "Gorodok Poultry Farm" is proceeding smoothly. Chief Agronomist Alesya Kuleshova, who has 15 years of experience in agriculture (five of them at the poultry farm), knows all about her lands. And there are, by the way, 16 thousand hectares:
— Of these, almost 7500 are arable land. So there is plenty of work and concerns, every day is worth its weight in gold. We have already sown over 1900 hectares. First of all, oats and legumes, which are not afraid of the cold, but really need moisture. For the third year in a row, we are betting on hybrid rye, which yields 60–70 centners per hectare. Since April 22, we have been sowing corn for grain, and we managed 40 hectares in a day.
Chief Agronomist of JSC "Gorodok Poultry Farm" of Gorodok District Alesya Kuleshova
The chief agronomist has many plans. And all of them need to be implemented on time. The main thing is that the equipment is in good working order, and the people know their job, believes Alesya Kuleshova:
— Everyone is on the front lines from early morning. Healthy excitement is present, where would we be without it.
Mechanizer Dmitry Alekseev echoes the specialist:
— Personally, I have been in agriculture for 25 years. The steering wheel of a tractor, a combine harvester — all this is familiar, understandable. My daughters, schoolchildren Elena and Milana, say they are proud of their father, the grain grower. They are far from being "children of asphalt," they know that both fragrant buns and aromatic loaves all come from the field.
In the Podosky district, a notable feature of the spring sowing campaign is that OAO "Kuropoly-Agro", "Yanovicha-Agro", "Znamya Pobedy", "Dunilovichi-Agro" have taken the lead, which in previous years were either in the middle or lagging behind. This is explained by the fact that since last autumn they joined the agro-industrial association of the Podosky dairy plant and receive comprehensive assistance from it.
— Previously, we practically could not meet the deadlines, — shares information Director of OAO "Yanovicha-Agro" Andrey Kozhurno. — Soil preparation was particularly problematic. Now, powerful energy-intensive equipment has arrived from the dairy plant, and they helped us with mineral fertilizers and fuel.
Valery Tatun from KUSP "Lyakhovshchina-Agro" of the Podosky district is one of the best young mechanizers in the district for sowing.
As a result, the farm was one of the first to complete the sowing of spring rapeseed on all 345 hectares. Moreover, they doubled its area compared to last year.
With the support of the dairy plant, successfully coping with spring sowing, OAO "Kuropoly-Agro" has begun planting corn. It will occupy almost 600 hectares, 150 more than last year. This work was entrusted to the best sower of the farm, Yuri Usovich, and the soil is being prepared by father and son — Nikolai and Valery Odintsy.
"Kuropoly-Agro" also sowed all 100 hectares of flax. However, there are only 300 hectares of flax in agricultural enterprises. The main field (2050 hectares) belongs to the Podosky flax mill itself. Last year, little raw material was procured, and they were forced to import it from Beshenkovichi.

of the Chashniki district. To prevent such a situation from recurring, appropriate measures have been taken. Firstly, the district executive committee has allocated funds for the purchase of 100 tons of seeds, as well as for spare parts and mineral fertilizers. Assistance was provided by the Postavy Dairy Plant and other farms. Up to 20 units of equipment are involved in sowing every day. Work is carried out from 7 am to 9 pm. As of yesterday, 1150 hectares have been sown, and according to the acting director Ivan Myshlyakevich, if nothing interferes, sowing will be completed by the first days of May.
