In the Vitebsk region, the top dressing of winter cereals and cruciferous crops will be completed in the coming days
In the Vitebsk region, the top dressing of winter cereals and cruciferous crops is planned to be completed this week, as reported by the Committee for Agriculture and Food of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee.
Currently, work has been carried out on 88% of the areas. Farms in half of the region's districts have completed this work, while the rest are close to finishing it. The main efforts of the region's agrarians are focused on plowing. As of the morning of April 25, the sowing of early spring cereals and leguminous crops has been carried out on 76.3 thousand hectares, which is 31.5% of the plan. Cruciferous crops have been sown on 12.1 thousand hectares (15.5% of the plan). Agricultural work is progressing most actively in the Gluboksky, Dokshitsky, and Dubrovensky districts. The sowing campaign is also gaining momentum in other districts of the region. Its average pace (including all crops) is 13 thousand hectares per day.
"The region has seriously prepared for the organized and high-quality conduct of spring field work. Farms are provided with mineral fertilizers, fuel, and machinery. Everyone is focused on completing the sowing within the shortest possible timeframe. For the early group, weather permitting, we intend to finish in early May," specialists noted. The total sown area of the region this year will be 796 thousand hectares, of which 50% is planned to be sown with grain crops (about 400 thousand hectares), including 242 thousand hectares in the spring.
