Vitebsk region summed up the results of the review-competition of choreographic groups "Prydzvinskіe karunki"
Ivan Artemovich dedicated his whole life to folk dances. He began his creative biography as a soloist of the ensemble of Belarusian folk song and dance of the Belgosphilharmonic, and from 1961 he began to lead the Vitebsk folk ensemble "Maladost". He collected a huge number of dances from the Vitebsk region, which for several decades have been included in the repertoire of regional ensembles.
The creative competition dedicated to the master is held once every two years. As explained by Olga Pane, the chief choreographer of the regional methodological center for folk art, the goal of the competition is to popularize, restore and preserve the dance heritage of Ivan Serikov, improve the performance skills of the participants of choreographic ensembles, and replenish their repertoire.
This year, due to the current epidemiological situation, the competition was held remotely, with the participation of more than thirty leading amateur choreographic ensembles, who presented over 80 video recordings. Several nominations and age groups were provided. Performances by ensembles with the titles of "People's" and "Exemplary" were considered separately.
For the best performance of Ivan Serikov's original dances, diplomas of the first degree were awarded to the Honored Amateur Ensembles of the Republic of Belarus "Na Rostanyakh" of the Vitebsk College of Culture and Arts and "Yablynka" of the City House of Culture. The winners in this nomination were also recognized as: "Karagod" of the Vitebsk Gymnasium No. 3 named after A. Pushkin and the exemplary choreographic ensemble "Lyalki" of the Verkhnedvinsk District Center for Culture and Folk Art.
