Vitebsk region to get its own "Artek"
April 21, Vitebsk / Diana Kurilo - BELTA /. Vitebsk region will have its own "Artek". This was announced today to journalists by the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Alexander Kosinets, during the republican subbotnik, a BELTA correspondent reports.
Half of the funds earned during the subbotnik will be directed by the region to the construction of the Museum of the Great Patriotic War in Minsk. "This is a fair decision. We must honor the memory of our fathers and grandfathers who defended the country. Thanks to them, we live in a peaceful, sovereign Belarus," the governor said.
The remaining funds will remain in the regional budget and will be used for the reconstruction and improvement of children's health camps. The largest part will go to the restoration of the "Vityaz" camp, which the joint-stock company of the same name is transferring to communal ownership. This camp is located 40 km from Vitebsk in a pine forest. The camp has seven brick dormitories with rooms designed for three to four people, with individual showers and toilets in the rooms, as well as a residential building for staff, medical and utility buildings, a club-canteen with three dining halls and an assembly hall, a boiler room, an artesian well, a summer stage, a campfire site with a dance floor. A stadium with a football field, basketball and volleyball courts are equipped for sports. The camp has its own body of water and a equipped beach. Up to 570 children can rest here per shift. "A model camp of regional significance will be created here - a kind of Vitebsk "Artek"," Alexander Kosinets stated.
However, this does not mean that other children's camps will be forgotten. The "Lenok" camp, transferred to communal ownership by the Orsha Flax Mill, as well as the "Kolos" camp, where children of agricultural workers will rest, will be put in proper condition. "We will do everything necessary to ensure that children's recreation is organized, so that children grow up strong, healthy, and intellectually developed. Children are our main strategic resource," Alexander Kosinets emphasized.
To put the children's health camps in order, the region plans to organize several more subbotniks. The chairman of the regional executive committee also intends to take part in them.
According to preliminary data, today the Vitebsk region intends to transfer at least Br4.7 billion to the fund of the republican subbotnik, which significantly exceeds last year's amount.-0-
