More than half of the early spring grain crop areas have been sown in the Vitebsk region
As of the morning of April 20, 137.8 thousand hectares have been sown in the region, which is 54.9% of the planned area for this group. The work is progressing most actively in Dubrovensky (80% of the plan sown), Chashniksky (74%), and Polotsky (70%) districts. There are already farms that have completely finished this stage of spring work. Among them are, for example, the "Ozertsy" farm in the Gluboksky district and KUSKhP named after Chernyakhovsky in the Dubrovensky district. At the bottom of the regional district standings are currently Rossonsky and Braslavsky districts, which is due to objective reasons: due to unstable weather and soil conditions, farmers were only able to start sowing in early April.
"About 1.2 thousand energy-intensive tractors go out to the fields of the region daily. On the weekend, 400 sowing and 500 soil-cultivating units were involved. Work begins at 6:00 AM and continues throughout daylight hours. Our task for the near future is to complete the sowing of grain and leguminous crops this week," the committee noted.
The sowing of other crops is also gradually progressing in the region. 14.2 thousand hectares, or 27%, of cruciferous crops and 3.3 thousand hectares, or 22%, of flax have already been sown.
