The sowing campaign has begun in the Vitebsk region

The first seeders have entered the fields in Gluboksky, Dokshitsky and Lepelsky districts, as reported by the regional agricultural committee.

Also, seven regions have started plowing stubble fields. In addition, farms in Vitebsk region have reseeded 34 thousand hectares (34%) of perennial grasses. Other types of work are underway to lay the foundation for the new harvest on winter crop areas and prepare pastures.

For 2016, the structure of sown areas for agricultural crops has been formed primarily considering the needs of the livestock industry. In total, it is planned to allocate 398.5 thousand hectares for grain and leguminous crops, 106.2 thousand hectares for rapeseed, 82.7 thousand hectares for corn, and 44.6 and 197.4 thousand hectares for annual and perennial grasses, respectively.
