In the Vitebsk region, 923 polling stations have started operating for the local Council of Deputies elections, including 47 polling stations opened in healthcare facilities, sanatoriums and health resorts of the region. This was reported to a BELTA correspondent by the chairman of the regional election commission, Vladimir Myadelets. A total of about 894,000 residents of the region are included in the voting lists. More than 296,000 citizens, or 33.2% of the total number of voters, took advantage of early voting. The highest activity during early voting was shown by residents of the Sharkovshchyna district, where turnout was 51%, Rossony district (47.8%), and Liozno district (41.6%). In the regional center, voter turnout based on the results of early voting was 33.4%, in Novopolotsk - 34.8%, Orsha - 24.7%, Polotsk - 22.2%. In general, early voting proceeded calmly and in accordance with the election code, noted Vladimir Myadelets. 3,761 candidates for deputies are competing for voters' votes, claiming 3,530 mandates. During the elections, 240 local councils are to be formed in the region, including one regional, 21 district, 7 city councils in cities of regional and district subordination, as well as 211 rural and settlement councils. -0-
