Events will be held in the Vitebsk region as part of the World Day for Safety and Health at Work

Each year, the World Day for Safety and Health at Work is dedicated to global issues facing employers and workers and is held under various mottos.

This year, the theme of the World Day for Safety and Health at Work on April 28, 2021, is: Anticipate and prepare for crises – Invest NOW in resilient occupational safety and health systems.

April 28 is a day to remember workers who have died, been injured, or contracted occupational diseases as a result of unsafe, unhealthy, and unacceptable working conditions.

The COVID-19 pandemic has affected all aspects of the world of work, from the risk of virus transmission in the workplace to occupational safety and health risks arising from measures to mitigate the spread of the virus.

The transition to new forms of work organization, such as the mass shift to remote work, has opened up many opportunities for workers, but has also created potential occupational safety and health risks.

The World Day for Safety and Health at Work on April 28, 2021, will focus on strategies for strengthening national occupational safety and health systems to build resilience to crises, both now and in the future, drawing on lessons learned and global experience.

Various events will be held in the regions of the Vitebsk region to draw attention to this issue and stimulate dialogue on the importance of creating adequate occupational safety and health systems and investing in them, using the experience gained in combating and preventing the spread of COVID-19 in production.

The implementation of adequate occupational safety and health measures in the workplace can play a decisive role in containing the spread of disease while protecting workers and society as a whole.
