The highest birth rate and wedding growth in the Vitebsk region in 2010 was recorded in the Sharkovshchyna district, the Committee for Labor, Employment and Social Protection of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee informed a BELTA correspondent. It was in this district that the highest birth rate growth rate was recorded last year - 112.5% ​​compared to 2009 (171 babies were born). And more often than in the previous year, the Mendelssohn march sounded here: 145 couples got married (125% compared to 2009). Another record of the Sharkovshchyna district is noteworthy. Last year, it distinguished itself with the strongest marriages. Only 37 divorces were registered, or 66.1% compared to 2009, which is the lowest indicator among all regions of the oblast. More children were born in the past 2010 than in the previous year in the Beshenkovichi (175, or 105.4%), Vitebsk (410, or 103.5%), Glubokoe (422, or 112.5%), Dokshitsy (276, or 109.5%), Dubrovno (200, or 105.3%) and Orsha (307, or 102.7%) districts. Among cities of regional subordination, birth rate growth was noted only in Novopolotsk (1010, or 112.5%), where local authorities awarded a bonus to every new mother for the birth of a child. This measure was adopted in the city at the beginning of 2010 to correct the unfavorable demographic situation that had developed in 2009. Then, 898 children were born in Novopolotsk, or 91.9% compared to 2008. In total, 12.4 thousand babies were born in the Vitebsk region last year (97.8% compared to 2009). More than 20.5 thousand people died, including 2.2 thousand from regulated external causes, of which 412 people died from alcohol poisoning. -0-
