In the Vitebsk region, they are learning to guard the borders today

A territorial defense assembly is taking place today in the Vitebsk region. This was announced today to journalists by Ruslan Shkodin, Head of the Territorial Defense Department - Deputy Military Commissar of the Vitebsk Region Military Commissariat, as reported by a BELTA correspondent.

More than 70 people are participating in the assembly. Among them are heads of the region's law enforcement agencies, chairmen of district and city executive committees. Representatives of military commissariats and officials of authorities from other regions and Minsk, as well as the Ministry of Defense, have also been invited to share their experience. The assembly opened with an organizational meeting of participants, at which Alexander Kosinets, Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, summarized the results of the measures taken to improve territorial defense in the Vitebsk region in 2012 and set tasks for the next year. The program will then include practical exercises that will take place throughout the day. For example, participants will familiarize themselves with the organization of service at a checkpoint on Beshenkovichi Highway. At one of the "Vitebskoblgaz" enterprises, the procedure for admitting personnel to territorial troops with the deployment of reception points will be demonstrated. At the oil products storage facility No. 1 of RUP "Belorusneft-Vitebskobleneftoprodukt," a session will be held on organizing the protection of a territorial defense facility, the planned preventive surveillance system, access and internal facility regulations, as well as eliminating the consequences of sabotage, with a demonstration of special equipment. A firearms training session will take place at the shooting range of the patrol and post service regiment of the Department of Internal Affairs of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee.

The main goals of the assembly are to improve the training of personnel and the coordination of units involved in territorial defense tasks, as well as to enhance the methods and procedures for officials of management bodies in organizing territorial defense at the local level.
