This was reported to a BELTA correspondent by Ivan Shchurok, head of the education department of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee. In 2010/2011, 584 schools will open their doors to students. For the first time, the school bell will ring at Secondary School No. 46 in the Bilevo-1 microdistrict. About Br30 billion was allocated for the construction of the facility, designed for 930 places; financing was carried out from the regional and republican budgets. In total, about Br77 billion was spent on repair work and the purchase of new furniture for educational institutions in the region. This year, the optimization of the network of school educational institutions continued in the region, within the framework of which 16 schools were closed and 22 educational institutions were reorganized, noted Ivan Shchurok. He also emphasized that all teachers from the closed schools were transferred to new jobs. Together with them, 466 young teachers will start working. Their students will be over 114,000 children, including 10.25 thousand first-graders. -0-
