A unified database with statistics on child injuries and fatalities will be created in the Vitebsk region

В Витебской области создадут единую базу со статистикой о фактах травмирования и гибели детей

The Vitebsk Regional Prosecutor's Office proposes to consolidate the scattered statistics on severe injuries and deaths of children, which are currently held by various departments. This was announced by Anton Volkov, Senior Assistant Prosecutor of the Vitebsk Region, before the start of a training and methodological seminar on supervising the enforcement of legislation on minors and youth.

According to Anton Volkov, a common database will help make the work on preventing accidents and various emergencies involving minors more effective. "Unified statistics on injuries and deaths of children from external causes are not kept anywhere. Information collection is departmental - healthcare has its own statistics, law enforcement agencies have their own, and so on. In our region, for the first time, we will consolidate this on the basis of the commission for juvenile affairs - information will be collected from all bodies that record facts of death and severe injury of children. This will be a complete and detailed database that will allow us to see where our problems lie: whether we are not working enough on preventing family dysfunction, or if it is mismanagement, carelessness," the interlocutor explained.

Anton Volkov emphasized that in the coming year, the prosecutor's office intends to make every effort to stop the increase in juvenile crime that has emerged. "We are very concerned about group crime, especially when these groups are formed with the involvement of adults who draw adolescents into the criminal environment. In our supervisory activities, we are implementing a number of ideas, including recalling the Soviet experience of the criminal police and the juvenile inspection service, in order to break up these groups, which are often involved in drug trafficking," he said.

The three-day seminar (December 16-18), which will be held in the Vitebsk and Mogilev regions, is attended by representatives of the Prosecutor General's Office, the prosecutor's offices of the Vitebsk and Mogilev regions, deputies, senior assistants and assistants of prosecutors of cities and districts of the Vitebsk region, the Vitebsk and Orsha transport prosecutor's offices, supervising the enforcement of legislation on minors and youth, as well as representatives of education and healthcare departments, the committee for labor, employment and social protection, the Department of Internal Affairs, the regional commission for juvenile affairs, and others.
