In the Vitebsk region, married couples are divorcing less frequently

According to data from the main statistical department of the region, in January-September 2015, there were 389 divorces per thousand marriages, while for the same period last year, there were 411. In total, the number of couples who decided to officially dissolve their marital ties decreased by 11.7%. However, if we compare the figures for the same nine months, the number of registered marriages also decreased by 6.7%.

Unfortunately, the trend of population decline in the Vitebsk region persists. As of October 1, there were 1,194.8 thousand people in the region, while at the beginning of the year, the region's population was 3.7 thousand higher. This occurred primarily as a result of natural decrease: the number of deaths in the region exceeded the number of births by 3,296 people.
