In parallel with the election campaign for the lower house of parliament, the elections to the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus are also gaining momentum. 

Currently, the regions are determining their potential candidates for this legislative body. Thus, the director of the RUP RTC "Vitebsk Television and Radio Company" Elena Pantyukhova may be entrusted to represent the regional center in the upper house of parliament of the sixth convocation.

At the joint meeting of the presidium of the Vitebsk City Council of Deputies and the city executive committee held on July 29, our colleague was nominated as a candidate for membership in the Council of the Republic from Vitebsk. Officials and people's elected representatives voted unanimously for a native resident of the regional center, a professional who radically transformed regional television and was at the origins of the creation of the city television channel, being its ideological inspirer. As emphasized by Chairman of the City Executive Committee Viktor Nikolaikin, one of the main criteria for selecting a candidate was an excellent knowledge of the city. In addition, a serious argument in favor of Elena Pantyukhova is that she has established herself as a competent leader, under whom the television and radio company team has achieved high results in professional activities.

– I hope that Elena Valeryanovna will conduct the election campaign at a high level and, if elected, will worthily represent the regional center in the Council of the Republic, where her experience and professionalism will be in demand, including in working for the benefit of Vitebsk, – Viktor Nikolaikin summarized the final decision.

Elena Pantyukhova thanked the city authorities for the high trust and promised to justify it by making every effort and opportunity to achieve the main goal – the harmonious development of the regional center.

In total, Vitebsk region will have to delegate to the upper house

parliament of 8 members. The nomination of candidates for the Council of the Republic will last until August 19 inclusive; this right is vested in the presidiums of local councils of deputies of the basic level and executive committees. The senators' elections themselves will be held from August 25 to September 13 at meetings of deputies of local councils of deputies of the basic level in each region. The election results must be finally summarized no later than September 30.

Members of the presidium of the Postavy District Council of Deputies and the District Executive Committee unanimously voted to nominate Nikolai Martynov as a candidate for the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus.

– We know the General Director of the limited liability company "Management Company of the Holding "Belarusian Leather and Footwear Company "Marko" as a competent, initiative-taking leader, a skilled organizer who has made a significant contribution to the socio-economic development of the Vitebsk region, – described him the Deputy Chairman of the District Executive Committee Yuri Kiselev.

Nikolai Vasilyevich was one of the first in the country to engage in entrepreneurial activities, and managed to create the modern high-tech enterprise "Marko", and its affiliated production structures, whose products are in demand both in Belarus and abroad.

The Chairman of the District Executive Committee, Viktor Gutorov, referred to his experience in the Council of the Republic, to which Nikolai Martynov was elected three times. The head of the local government asked for assistance in preserving the benefits for small towns for Postavy, whose population only slightly exceeds 20 thousand. And the director of ATP No. 17, Oleg Malakhov, proposed opening a "Marko" branded store in the district center.

– We can open a store in Postavy next week if a location in the city center is found for it, – Nikolai Martynov replied. – I promise to work on the issue of Postavy's status as a small town as well.

Participants of the joint meeting of authorities in Lepel unanimously supported the proposal of the Chairman of the District Council, Nikolai Misyura, to nominate the rector as a candidate for the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus

of Vitebsk State Medical University Anatoly Shchastny.

Introducing the candidate, Nikolay Nikolayevich emphasized that Anatoly Tadeuszevich heads one of the largest higher education institutions in the country, which, incidentally, he himself graduated from. Doctor of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor, a distinguished healthcare professional of the Republic of Belarus, he has been awarded the honorary title "Person of the Year of Vitebsk Region". He is a capable and energetic leader, an experienced, creatively thinking educator, and a talented physician. He devotes much time to practical medicine. In 2015, under the direct supervision of Anatoly Shchastny, a kidney transplant project was implemented, and a highly qualified team of transplant surgeons was trained.

The speech by Anatoly Tadeuszevich himself was also interesting. According to public opinion polls of the country's residents, 70% of citizens are confident that the well-being of the state depends primarily on the strong health of each individual and the absence of bad habits. It is necessary to define the most important areas of work, including legislative ones. This task falls to the executive branch, as well as to medical professionals and educators, and joint projects and efforts, Anatoly Shchastny is confident, will help to change the situation. This is especially true considering that the goal for the next five years is to increase the average life expectancy to 75 years.

Anatoly Tadeuszevich also answered a question regarding nutrition as an integral part of a healthy lifestyle. The recommendations are well-known and confirmed by research: one should consume local, regionally grown products, and monitor the ecology and purity of water.

On behalf of all Lepel residents, Nikolay Misyura congratulated Anatoly Shchastny on his nomination as a candidate for senator.
