In the Vitebsk region in 2010, not a single case of complications in children after vaccinations was recorded

April 22, Vitebsk / Olga Bogacheva - BELTA /. In the Vitebsk region, not a single case of complications in children after vaccinations was recorded in 2010, the chief physician of the Vitebsk Regional Center for Hygiene, Epidemiology and Public Health, Vladimir Sinkevich, told a BELTA correspondent. According to him, medical achievements have long allowed the use of effective and safe vaccines for children. Before immunization, pediatricians examine young patients, which allows them to identify children who need preliminary medical correction or temporary postponement of the procedure. At the same time, temporary medical exemptions are isolated. The number of parents refusing vaccinations has also been decreasing recently, said Vladimir Sinkevich. This is largely due to the extensive information work constantly carried out by medical professionals, as well as the increasing level of education of the population. The chief sanitary doctor of the Vitebsk region noted that from April 23 to 30, on the initiative of the WHO European Regional Office, the European Immunization Week is being held in the countries of the European Region, including Belarus. During its holding, in healthcare institutions, work collectives, media and other organizations of the Vitebsk region, information will be provided on issues of protection against infectious diseases, the benefits of vaccination, and other aspects of immunization. Currently, the epidemiological situation regarding vaccine-preventable infections in the Vitebsk region remains favorable. For example, measles, diphtheria, and rubella have not been registered in the region for a long time, Vladimir Sinkevich added. -0-
