Over 51,000 people have already been vaccinated in the Vitebsk region in two days of October, reported Vladimir Sinkevich, Chief State Sanitary Doctor of the region.

The main batch of influenza vaccines, almost 290,000 doses, has been supplied to the medical workers of the Vitebsk region. "Mass immunization against influenza started on October 1. Approximately 78,500 doses have been received from the republican budget funds, 130,000 from local funds, and 78,400 from funds of enterprises and organizations. This year, influenza vaccination using budget funds will be carried out with the "Grippol Plus" vaccine produced by the Russian company NPO Petrovax Pharm LLC. Active immunization work is ongoing. In total, it is planned to vaccinate at least 40% of the working population," noted Vladimir Sinkevich.

He emphasized that vaccination is a specific preventive measure that has made it possible to prevent epidemics and severe cases of influenza for many decades. The results of the epidemiological analysis of morbidity during the past 2014-2015 epidemic season showed the high effectiveness of immunization.

"Vaccination is carried out in healthcare organizations of the region: by contacting the polyclinic at your place of residence, you can obtain more detailed information. First of all, it is necessary to carry out influenza immunization among individuals from groups at high risk of infection and consequences from influenza infection. An unvaccinated person puts not only themselves but also others at risk in case of infection," added the chief state sanitary doctor of the region.
