In the Vitebsk region, 76 families moved to rural areas in the first half of the year
July 30, Vitebsk / Olga Bogacheva - BELTA /. In the first half of the year, 76 families moved to rural areas in the Vitebsk region. This was reported to a BELTA correspondent by the Committee for Labor, Employment and Social Protection of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee.
This figure is the highest among all regions of the republic and accounts for one-third of the total number of families who moved to rural areas (241 in total across the republic), specialists noted.
Among the districts of the Vitebsk region, families who decided to change their place of residence gave the greatest preference to Vitebsk (9 families), Lepel (7), Gorodok and Orsha (6 each), as well as Postavy, Sharkovshchina and Shumilino (4 each) districts. At the same time, women initiated the relocation in 52% of cases. It is also noteworthy that migration occurred both from cities to rural areas and, in many cases, from one district to a neighboring one or within the same district.
The interest of many unemployed people in moving to rural areas is explained by the wide selection of available jobs, extensive information campaigns, and comprehensive assistance provided during relocation, the committee noted. Thus, in addition to housing, the head of the family receives five subsistence minimums (the current PM is Br266,230) and one for each family member moving with him. Relocation expenses are also compensated.
The registered unemployment rate in the Vitebsk region as of July 1 was 1.1% of the economically active population, with a maximum permissible rate of 1.6%. The number of unemployed decreased by 7.2% compared to January-June 2009 to 6.2 thousand people. Employment assistance was provided to 18.1 thousand citizens in six months, including 11.9 thousand unemployed (the annual target was met by 51.8% and 57.6%, respectively). About 2.1 thousand people were sent for vocational training and retraining (54.3% of the plan). Based on employer requests with guaranteed subsequent employment, 735 unemployed individuals were trained – effectively every third person among those sent for retraining. 7.4 thousand people were involved in temporary employment in the form of paid public works. Assistance in organizing entrepreneurial activities was provided to 326 unemployed individuals. -0-
