In the Vitebsk region, the fishing ban will be lifted on June 9

Fishermen in the Vitebsk region can resume fishing from June 9 after the spawning ban, said Vyacheslav Soldatov, Deputy Head of the regional inspection for the protection of fauna and flora.

Small vessels are allowed for amateur fishing in fishing grounds, as well as fly fishing, float, quiver and bottom rods, spinning rods, кружки, жерлицы, ставки, колобашки and other similar systems. However, when fishing, the total number of hooks should not exceed five per fisherman. It is forbidden to use double and treble hooks without a spinner, natural or artificial bait, and to fish from vessels in the dark. Nevertheless, catfish fishing in Belarus remains banned until July 1.

Violation of the rules for conducting fishing and fisheries management is punishable by an administrative fine of up to 20 basic units (1 BU - Br27). For illegal fish extraction, a fine of 20 to 50 basic units can be imposed, and compensation for environmental damage will also be required. Criminal liability is incurred for damage amounting to 100 or more basic units.

Vyacheslav Soldatov added that three lakes in the Vitebsk region - Plav and Losvido in the Gorodok district and Obsterno in the Miory district - are no longer leased. Now, fishing is free here, subject to all the rules established by law.
