The heating season has ended in the Vitebsk region

The decision has been made to end the heating season in the Vitebsk region from April 30, as reported by the main department of housing and communal services of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee.

The phased shutdown of heating will begin with residential buildings, administrative and industrial premises, kindergartens and schools, with the exception of medical institutions, hospitals, nursing homes for the elderly and disabled, and 24-hour care units for lonely elderly people at territorial centers for social services of the population.

The decision of the regional working group is due to the established stable positive air temperature and favorable weather forecast for the coming days. Subsequently, corresponding orders will be issued locally in the cities and districts of the region, taking into account local conditions and actual outdoor air temperature. If it drops, heat sources will be switched to a low-temperature heating mode.

The current heating season started in the Vitebsk region on September 23 and proceeded smoothly, without disruptions or emergency shutdowns. Now, utility workers are beginning preparations for the new inter-season period. The region will need to replace 65 km of heating networks and procure 400 thousand dense cubic meters of wood chips and firewood. The plan includes converting five heat sources to local types of fuel (in Vitebsk, Orsha, Shumilino, Braslav, and Verkhnedvinsk districts) and other works related to conducting hydraulic tests of heating networks, adjusting control devices, etc.
