A youth wing was created and its leader was elected in the Vitebsk regional organization of the NGO "Belarusian Union of Women"

В Витебской областной организации ОО «Белорусский союз женщин» создали молодежное крыло и выбрали его лидера
The creation of a youth wing with its own leader is an initiative of the regional branch that received support at the republican level. As reported by Elena Martynova, Chairperson of the regional organization of the Belarusian Women's Union (BSZh), young people currently make up about 30% of the total number of members, and this percentage is gradually increasing. Primary organizations have been established in local universities and colleges. The elected youth leader, who will represent the interests and ideas of their peers in the women's council, will serve as the unifying link.

– It is important that the ranks of the organization are replenished with proactive representatives of modern youth, so that they, together with us, participate in strengthening our native country, social projects, develop and popularize an active civic stance, ideas of kindness, responsiveness, love for family, and homeland. In addition, the "School of Successful Leadership" has been established under the Belarusian Women's Union, where girls with leadership qualities could participate, and I believe this experience will be useful for their future careers. And, of course, we want to hear new initiatives and proposals from young people that will be of interest to their generation, – shared Elena Valeryevna her expectations.

The leader of the youth wing was introduced at a meeting of the board of the regional organization of the BSZh, held at VSU named after P. Masherov, which is not accidental. Maria Sakunovskaya, who now represents the interests of youth in the women's organization, studies at the same university, majoring in chemistry and biology. The second-year student is part of the "Masherovtsy" School of Leaders, heads the student council at her faculty, plays in KVN (a popular Russian comedy show), sings, dances, participates in volunteer actions, and helps the elderly and homeless animals... In general, the list of the student's interests and hobbies can be listed for a long time.

– I have naturally heard about the Belarusian Women's Union, but for me personally, this is a new direction and a great honor. By joining the organization, I expect to at least better understand the rights and guarantees that are currently provided for women in our state, and to meet interesting people. As a true patriot, I would like to popularize Belarusian national culture and language among my peers, including through the women's organization, and new projects to more actively involve youth, – said Maria.

And there are many projects and events planned by the Vitebsk region women's council this year where girls can express themselves. For example, the social media challenge #iamremembering has already started, where young people share their impressions of meetings with veterans of the Great Patriotic War, stories they have heard, and feats of past years.

One of the upcoming events is an action to tidy up the burial sites of artists, writers, and other cultural figures of the northern region. It will start in the Beshenkovichi district, and then other regions will pick up the baton.

Creative talents can be showcased in the essay contest "We are different, but we are together," dedicated to the Independence Day of the Republic of Belarus and the Year of National Unity, as well as in the contest for the best billboard project for the 30th anniversary of the Belarusian Women's Union.

The Vitebsk regional organization of the BWU, now with the active participation of its youth wing, intends to further strengthen the image of the women's council, recognized for its deeds filled with feminine beauty, kindness, responsiveness, and peacefulness, uniting Belarusian women of different generations.
