Police detained a group of credit fraudsters at a Vitebsk bank

В витебском банке милиционеры задержали группу кредитных мошенников

Recently, operatives of the Oktyabrsky District Department of Internal Affairs of Vitebsk, together with employees of the patrol and guard service of the Internal Affairs Directorate of the regional executive committee, detained a criminal group specializing in credit fraud directly in a bank. According to preliminary information, dozens of people across Belarus could have become its victims, and the damage amounts to hundreds of millions of rubles.

As reported by Vladimir Bondarev, Deputy Head of the Department of Internal Affairs, two men and two women registered in Novopolotsk are currently detained on suspicion of fraud on a particularly large scale. This happened during an attempt to obtain another loan for 60 million rubles: the bank doubted the authenticity of the income certificate of the straw borrower.

The criminal group had clearly defined roles, and an individual approach was found for each victim. But the essence was one: the scammers gained the trust of naive citizens, forcing them to sign loan agreements in banks in various cities of Belarus, using fake income certificates. At the same time, of course, they did not intend to repay the debts, and by the time the person began to receive notifications about overdue loan payments, the scammers had managed to disappear. Now, law enforcement officers are identifying all possible victims of this criminal quartet and remind that it is possible to protect oneself from such troubles. The main thing to remember is that you should never, under any circumstances, register a loan in your name and hand over your passport to another person, even a close acquaintance, despite all promises. In fact, you create serious problems for yourself. After all, the loan that you decided to take, having succumbed to persuasion, will remain yours with all the ensuing consequences.
