В Витебском государственном училище олимпийского резерва после реконструкции открыли тир с двумя большими залами
The shooting range at the Vitebsk State College of the Olympic Reserve has resumed operation after a large-scale reconstruction, featuring two large halls: the first with firing ranges of 10 and 25 meters, and the second with 25 and 50 meters. The grand opening ceremony of the new facility on September 29 was attended by the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Nikolai Sherstnev, and the Minister of Sport and Tourism of the Republic of Belarus, Sergey Kovalchuk. Alongside them, the honorary right to cut the red ribbon was granted to the Head of the Department of Sports and Tourism of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Vasily Zakharevich, and Olga Shilenok, a Master of Sport of International Class in rifle shooting, a silver medalist of the World and European Championships, and a USSR champion, who is a former graduate of the college.

The total cost of the shooting range renovation amounted to 295 thousand rubles. Everything has been transformed, from the utility rooms to the firing ranges. The bullet catchers and ventilation systems have been restored, the lighting system has been replaced, and underfloor heating has been installed. Importantly, a significant portion of the work that did not require specialized skills was carried out by the college staff.

The renovated facility will primarily enable the full functioning of the rifle shooting department, which resumed its operations at the college on September 1 of this year. The first cohort, consisting of seven young men and women, has already had the opportunity to experience the advantages of the globally transformed shooting range during training sessions. Additionally, the large hall will now be utilized in the training process for biathletes.

– Without a modern material and technical base, it is impossible to achieve today the results with which one wins the World Championship, the European Championship, the Olympic Games, – emphasized Nikolai Sherstnev, adding that excellent conditions have been created for young athletes at the college, which the Minister of Sports and Tourism highly praised. The head of the region also noted that when much is done at the regional level, the Ministry of Sports and Tourism also lends a hand in providing new equipment.
