A chocolate map of the city has appeared in the Vitebsk museum
A chocolate map of Vitebsk has appeared in the local Museum of Chocolate. A new hall opened here on June 30, and the map became its central exhibit.
During the "Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk" festival, the chocolate map will help city guests find all the iconic places and concert venues. The canvas, made entirely of chocolate with natural food colorings, marks the objects of the arts forum, as well as the "Wedding Fairytale" festival. It will be held in Vitebsk for the first time on July 25-26 and will be dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the wedding of Marc Chagall and Bella Rosenfeld. The map also features the logos of both events.
The map, measuring 1.7 meters by 1 meter, weighs over 15 kg. A team of authors worked on it for over a month. These include museum director Lyubov Ivanova, and artists Tatiana Golubeva, Elena and Alexander Pravilov.
"This map combines my love for chocolate and Vitebsk. This feeling is as enduring as the exhibit's shelf life. By the way, the oldest chocolate figure, which is kept in a museum in Riga, is already over 120 years old. Our map can also be stored for a long time thanks to the air conditioning system installed in the hall. However, it cannot be transported for display. So, come visit our museum!" invited Lyubov Ivanova.
The second hall of the museum is dedicated to fine arts: here are displayed paintings made of chocolate on chocolate, which viewers have already seen, and new, previously unexhibited works.
A place has been allocated in the hall for a future painting by Tatiana Golubeva – a reproduction of one of Marc Chagall's works. It will be exhibited by July 25 and will complement the painting "The Lovers," which is currently the world's only chocolate copy of a work by the famous artist.
