An exhibition of artist Ivan Ivanov from Polotsk will open at the Vitebsk Regional Museum of Local Lore
The exhibition "Painting" - is the seventh solo exhibition of the artist from Polotsk, Ivan Ivanov. The exhibition features 40 paintings created during the period 2007-2013.
Ivan Ivanov considers working from nature to be the main direction of his art, therefore the exhibition includes landscapes from plein air sessions and still lifes. For the artist, the beauty created by nature and filtered through the prism of the author's perception and worldview prevails.
The works of Ivan Ivanov are distinguished by their tenderness, the impetuosity of elongated brushstrokes, and a special color palette close to expressionism.
In his color perception of the world during the creative period of 2004-2008, I. Ivanov was dominated by the highest colors of the spectrum - violet, blue, light blue. These are the colors of creativity; they promote creative thinking, strengthen the will in achieving goals, deepen the inner world, and search for the meaning of existence.
In the paintings of this period, the color palette is enriched with emerald tones and warm greens – the color of nature itself, harmony and tranquility, spiritual balance. The artist's new creative period is also marked by the appearance of flowers in still lifes, as an eternal object of admiration and beauty.
The subjects – trees, clouds, grass, houses, vases, flowers, jugs – are in constant motion on the artist's canvases; they live and breathe, they laugh and grieve, they are cheerful and thoughtful. And perhaps this is why Ivan Ivanov's paintings are so captivating.
Ivan Ivanov is a regular participant in regional, republican, and international plein air sessions, has participated in 20 exhibitions based on the results of plein air sessions, in joint creative projects, and was the initiator and curator of the project "Pomegranate Heart", which was successfully held in Polotsk and Vitebsk.
The exhibition opens at the Vitebsk Regional Museum of Local Lore (Lenin St., 36)
It will run until September 13, 2013.
