The Vitebsk Regional Museum of Local Lore presented the exhibition project “KRIEG”
The Vitebsk Regional Museum of Local Lore has opened the exhibition project “KRIEG” by Sergey Grigoryevich Shilo, a member of the Union of Designers and the Union of Craftsmen of the Republic of Belarus (Minsk), from April 24.
“
This exhibition project is memory, reflection, protest, loneliness”. This is the author's life philosophy, an understanding of historical events and the destinies of people and the country. The exhibition exposition consists of author's installations, where objects appear as artifacts that encourage contemplation of their subtext, thinking, analyzing, comparing, foreseeing, and making a choice between good and evil, freedom and violence.
“KRIEG –
war, as the ultimate violence against life, habitat, culture, and the human essence…KRIEG – a protest against war as such, without distinction between right and wrong,
ours and theirs, victors and vanquished…
KRYK – reflection on short historical memory…
”The author dedicated the exhibition to all those who fell and survived the Great Patriotic War. This is a dedication to the author's parents and close relatives who survived the fascist occupation, concentration camps, fought and were wounded at the front, and fell in battles for the liberation of the Motherland.
“
KRIEG – a dedication to the memory of millions who were limited in their choice “TO LIVE OR NOT TO LIVE”By the confines of a soldier's trench, an order, a blockade, a concentration camp, a ghetto, a village, a barn doused with gasoline, a crematorium oven, the edge of a pit or a ditch…
”The author also dedicated the exhibition to his comrades who went through the Afghan War and other "hot spots," as well as to his sons Ivan and Danila.
This is Sergey Shilo's sixth exhibition project in Vitebsk. The first two took place in 2007 as part of the international arts festival "Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk".
In 2008, an exhibition was held in "Zadvine".
In 2009, the Vitebsk Center for Contemporary Art successfully hosted an exhibition – an art project dedicated to the 65th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders.
And in 2014, the exhibition "Cargo-300" was held there, dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the withdrawal of Soviet troops from Afghanistan and to the internationalist soldiers.
The exhibition
"KRIEG", as a dedication to the 70th anniversary of the Great Victory, will be open at the Vitebsk Regional Museum of Local Lore (Lenin St., 36) until May 24, 2015.Portal gorodvitebsk.by
