The issue of fodder harvesting was discussed at the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee

В Витебском облисполкоме обсудили вопрос заготовки кормов
The winter stall period should proceed as planned. This was the leitmotif of the regional executive committee meeting, which discussed the issue of fodder procurement. The Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly, Vladimir Andreichenko, also took part in the meeting.

Opening the meeting, the Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee, Alexander Subbotin, spoke about the meeting held on Tuesday with the President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, on the development of the Vitebsk region. The conversation was tough. The Head of State demanded strict adherence to all instructions. The main focus was on observing executive discipline and implementing technologies. The most pressing issue was also discussed – preparation for the winter stall period of livestock keeping. It is necessary to do everything possible to procure the maximum amount of fodder for a successful wintering.

As reported by the Chairman of the Committee for Agriculture and Food of the Regional Executive Committee, Sergey Egorov, certain work by the region's farms began last year: about 200 units of fodder harvesting equipment were purchased, and perennial grasses were reseeded. Weather conditions played a cruel trick – the May cold snaps and the June drought did not allow the grasses to develop fully. From the first mowing, 5 centners of fodder units per conventional head of cattle were procured, which is one and a half times less than last year. Certain measures were taken to ensure that fodder procurement did not stop: farms were supplied with fuel and lubricants, equipment repair and spare parts supply were carried out promptly, and additional areas for fodder procurement were identified. As a result, as of today, there are an average of almost 10 centners of fodder units per conventional head of cattle. Intermediate crops, which were practically not grown before, have been sown on an area of almost 17 thousand hectares. The second mowing is currently underway, and some farms have started the third. Four districts of the Vitebsk region have begun harvesting corn.
