The IV open regional rhythmic gymnastics tournament was held at the Vitebsk Central Sports Complex
The IV Open Regional Rhythmic Gymnastics Tournament, dedicated to the memory of Nina Andreeva, Honored Coach of the Republic of Belarus in Rhythmic Gymnastics, was held at the Vitebsk Central Sports Complex (12, Lyudnikova Ave., Vitebsk).
The chief judge of the competition, Russian Master of Sports Anna Nesterova, said that this year 10 teams from Belarus, Russia, and Lithuania are participating in the tournament. The competitions gathered more than 150 girls aged 5 to 13 years. Anna Alexandrovna also recalled that the idea for the tournament was born in 2008, when it was called "Little Lady," and now the competitions are held in honor of gymnast Nina Andreeva, who made a great contribution to the development of this sport in Vitebsk.
At the two-day competitions, the most spectacular performances were by the older gymnasts. The undisputed favorites and audience darlings were Maria Trubach and Stefania Manakhova, prize-winners of the senior age group. The girls are now training in Minsk, and just two years ago they were students of the sports schools of the capital of the Dvina region. The "bronze" went to Vitebsk resident Anna Okunevich. Hoops, clubs, and ropes obey these athletes as if by magic.
"Since the beginning of the year, this sport has featured more dance elements, and the scoring system has also changed slightly," notes coach Natalia Ageenko.
In total, the girls from the regional center have 12 prize-winning places in 8 age groups. These are pupils of the SDYUSSHOR of BFSO "Dynamo" and DYUSSH №1 of Vitebsk. For many participants, victory in these competitions has become a stepping stone to conquering new sporting heights.
