The remains of soldiers who died during the Great Patriotic War were reburied in Zaronovo

В Зароново перезахоронили останки воинов, погибших в годы Великой Отечественной войны
The reburial of the remains of 8 Red Army soldiers who died during the Great Patriotic War and the opening of a new monument at the burial site of war victims took place in the agro-town of Zaronovo, Vitebsk region.

Searchers, servicemen of the 52nd Separate Specialized Battalion, and representatives of the Moscow Regional Public Organization "Charitable Military-Historical Search Club 'Memory and Reconciliation'," Moscow and Vitebsk cadets, and residents of the agro-town gathered for the mourning rally. The formidable echo of the terrible war has once again swept through the Vitebsk region. Even decades after the last volleys were fired, the remains of those who laid down their lives for our peaceful sky are still found in the long-suffering land. At a sacred place for all residents of the Zaronovo region – military burial No. 4407 – the remains of 8 unknown fallen heroes were committed to the earth. Unfortunately, during excavations, searchers did not find any accompanying artifacts that would allow them to establish the names of the fallen.

– In a few weeks, we will begin celebrating the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the first settlements of the Vitebsk region from the Nazi invaders, – emphasized the Chairman of the Regional Council of Deputies, Vladimir Terentyev. – In October – Liozno and Liozno district, Surazh, Gorodok and Gorodok district. 80 years have passed since the hostilities ended, but not a year goes by without us reburying Soviet soldiers and civilians who died during the Great Patriotic War. And today, at one of the largest military cemeteries not only in the region but also in the country, we are Christianly committing the remains of 8 soldiers of the Workers' and Peasants' Red Army to the earth. This has become a tragic tradition. We do not know the names of the soldiers, their ranks. But perhaps in a few more years, with the help of genetic expertise, we will be able to identify each fallen soldier and inscribe their names on the marble slabs.

The head of the region's deputy corps expressed great gratitude to the searchers, the servicemen of the 52nd Separate Specialized Battalion, and the participants of the military-historical search club "Memory and Reconciliation," headed by Valery Zagrekov.

Back in 2019, as a result of joint search operations in the vicinity of the settlement of Poloyniki, Vitebsk region, the remains of 10 civilians were found, and in 2020, the remains of 266 civilians, including a pregnant woman. 276 people are now buried in civilian cemetery No. 7987, and a monument has been erected at the expense of budget funds.

In turn, Valery Zagrekov emphasized that international cadet cooperation has been established between Moscow, Vitebsk, and Polotsk cadets, who help restore the history of their country through the discovery of human remains in the ground. Next year, student youth from Belarus and Russia are expected to join the search teams.

Moscow Yunarmiya member Anzhelika Pestova shared that she has participated in excavations three times. In her opinion, this is very important patriotic work. "We are returning nameless heroes to their families, and in this lies the unbroken connection between generations," she emphasized.
