In Zaslonovo, Lepel district, servicemen were presented with keys to 70 service apartments
In military unit 71327 in Zaslonovo, a joyous, long-awaited event took place. In a solemn ceremony, servicemen of the garrison received the keys to 70 service apartments. They were congratulated on the holiday by the Deputy Minister of Defense for Logistics, Andrey Burdyko, and the Chairman of the Regional Council of Deputies, Vladimir Terentyev.
The distinctive feature of the officers' house is that it was revived from oblivion, like a Phoenix from the ashes. The building, with a half-century history, stood mothballed for over ten years. After all engineering communications were disconnected, it fell into complete disrepair. The Ministry of Defense and the Regional Executive Committee made a joint decision to repair the old building. The reconstruction, funded by the district and regional budgets, took nearly two years and cost 1091.5 thousand rubles. To save money, the overhaul and modernization work was carried out by local utility workers – the enterprise "Borovka". Subcontractors were involved in repairing the engineering networks. The result is excellent: military personnel and their families will be comfortable in the cozy one- and two-bedroom apartments. And the housing issue, which has become acute in the garrison in recent years, is considered resolved. Of the 110 people on the waiting list for housing, 70 percent now have apartments. Previously, some of the new residents were provided with dormitories, while others rented housing in neighboring villages and in Lepel itself. Now, this need has disappeared. A guaranteed roof over one's head is a significant advantage for those who have chosen the defense of the homeland as their profession.
The honored guests, along with the Chairman of the District Executive Committee, Boris Efremov, cut the symbolic red ribbon. The servicemen themselves, not hiding their emotions, expressed gratitude for the excellent New Year's gift. The event also featured a local highlight – the military brass band. The unit commander, Colonel Andrey Latyshev, who is also a new resident, highly praised the work of the builders.:
