Vadim Devyatovsky intends to focus on preparation for the London 2012 Olympics
November 20, Vitebsk / Sergey Kochetov - BELTA /. Silver medalist of the 2008 Beijing Olympics Vadim Devyatovsky intends to focus on preparing for the 2012 London Olympics after his recovery period. The athlete announced this to journalists in Vitebsk today, according to a BELTA correspondent.
"Based on the results of medical examinations, doctors recommend that I undergo recovery, taking into account that the body is psychologically 'dehydrated,' and only then start preparing for competitions," the athlete said. The recovery period may take up to six months and will be carried out under medical supervision. The athlete has identified the 2012 London Olympics as his main event, where he will try to confirm his Beijing success and prove that the Belarusian school of throwers is deservedly considered one of the strongest in the world.
At the same time, Vadim Devyatovsky does not rule out his participation in the 2011 World Championships. "Now, the priority is to recover, and then we'll see how the preparation goes: if there's an opportunity and my form allows, I will gladly compete in the World Championships, but in any case, my main focus is on the London Olympics," he noted. He stressed that the preparation will not be rushed for the sake of the World Championships, otherwise, he might not make it to London.
During the forced break caused by the legal dispute with the IOC, Vadim Devyatovsky was most afraid of losing the technical level he had achieved, which allowed him to achieve the second result at the Beijing Olympics. "The most important thing for me during this period was not to lose the feel for the hammer, and I am confident that this did not happen, so now I will calmly recover, and there is a chance to regain my previous form by the 2012 Olympics," he believes.
Vadim Devyatovsky could not yet name the first official competitions where fans will be able to see him. "I am ready to compete even today, but I would not want to end my career immediately after that. I need to focus on preparing for London and do everything possible to win an Olympic medal," he added. -0-
