Vadim Devyatovsky doubts the sincerity of the beliefs of the participants in the unauthorized action

December 20, Vitebsk / Diana Kurilo - BELTA /. Silver medalist of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games Vadim Devyatovsky does not believe in the sincerity of the convictions of those who tried to smash the government building on Independence Square in Minsk last night. He expressed his point of view to a BELTA correspondent. "It is unlikely that among those who were on Independence Square at night, there were people who sincerely believed in what they were doing. Most likely, they wanted to create a 'picture on the screen'," the Olympian believes. He followed the night events in the capital with concern. On the eve of the elections, Vadim Devyatovsky, as a proxy for Alexander Lukashenko, held many meetings in educational institutions and work collectives in Novopolotsk. Students and young workers positively assessed the fact that such a large number of candidates participated in the elections. However, the programs of many of them raised many questions. "One can speculate about today's problems, but it is difficult to deny that the country is moving forward, and thinking youth understands this perfectly," he said. "I tried to engage people in an open conversation, asked them to raise the issues that concern them, and I dare assure you that there was no fierce criticism of the current government at our meetings. On the contrary, there was an understanding that the government is open to dialogue. After all, only through dialogue can we build a strong and prosperous country," believes Vadim Devyatovsky. In his deep conviction, the voting results expressed the real attitude of citizens to the current government. "What happened on the square in Minsk does not express the opinion of the majority," emphasized Vadim Devyatovsky. -0-
