V. Андрейченко: a people's representative must protect the interests of their country and care about its fate

August 17, Glubokoye /Olga Bogacheva - BELTA/. A people's representative must protect the interests of their country and sincerely care about its fate. This opinion was expressed by the Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus, Vladimir Andreichenko, in response to a question from a BELTA correspondent about the qualities a deputy should possess to professionally perform their duties. "First of all, he must be a developed person, a patriot of his country, who sincerely cares about its fate. It is impossible for a people's representative to be a deputy only for a constituency and defend the interests of a specific group of people. He must defend the interests of the country as a whole. He must be a versatile person, wise in life, because it is necessary to draft laws by which our country and our society will live," Vladimir Andreichenko is convinced. He also believes that a people's representative must enjoy authority in their electoral district, as their work is directly related to close interaction with the population: it is necessary to accept and fulfill mandates from people, to consider their appeals. Public, recognizable figures may appear in the House of Representatives of the fifth convocation. "This is a normal phenomenon," added the Chairman of the House of Representatives. Regarding the work of current parliamentarians, he said: "I think wise people worked in this parliament, who did a lot: during this time, more than 400 laws were adopted and signed by the head of state. It is important that intense work was constantly carried out internally. We did not bring any disagreements into the Oval Hall, we worked professionally." Vladimir Andreichenko expressed hope that the future parliament, those who will be part of it, will maintain continuity in this work. "Time moves forward. I would like future deputies to bring new promising ideas, so that parliament becomes a discussion platform for resolving a number of both internal and foreign policy issues," the speaker added. In Glubokoye, the Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus, Vladimir Andreichenko, is taking part in a meeting of the Council of Elders and the Council of Young Specialists with the participation of the corps of current leaders of the Glubokoye district. -0-
