A commemoration evening dedicated to Yanka Kupala will be held at the theater named after him in Vitebsk on the national poet's birthday
September 21, Vitebsk / Diana Kurilo - BELTA /. A tribute evening dedicated to Yanka Kupala will be held at the theater named after him in Vitebsk on the national poet's birthday, November 3, the National Academic Drama Theater named after Yanka Kupala told a BELTA correspondent.
For the 130th anniversary of the Belarusian bard's birth, the theater, which has borne his name since 1944, has prepared a program that includes Yanka Kupala himself, his famous character Symon the Musician, and the poet's beloved women. As noted at the theater, the tribute evening is a new form of communication with the audience. The venue for this event is the theater's lounge, which will open its doors for the first time this season.
Thus, in addition to the main and chamber stages, the theater will have another venue. This season, it will host an evening dedicated to Anatoly Vertinsky, a memorial evening for Belarusian sculptor Vladimir Zhbanov, and an evening of Belarusian humor. The lounge will open on October 25 with "Confession," a program of love in letters and songs. The author, director, and performer is the theater's director and artistic director, Honored Artist of Belarus, and State Prize laureate Valery Anisenko.
Another pleasant innovation awaits theatergoers – a theater buffet. Strangely enough, the academic theater has not had one until now. Yet, a theater buffet is a cultural phenomenon. It attracts not only spectators but also theater critics and playwrights, for whom the buffet sometimes becomes a place of work. It is said that Anton Chekhov wrote the vaudeville "The Bear" on a buffet napkin. Once, theater buffets competed no less than the theaters themselves. The opening of the buffet at the Vitebsk theater will coincide with the opening of the next, 87th theater season, scheduled for October 5. -0-
