Exhibitions of Russian artists will mark the beginning of celebrations for the 125th anniversary of Marc Chagall in Vitebsk
July 6, Vitebsk / Diana Kurilo - BELTA /. Vernissages by Russian artists will kick off today the celebrations in honor of the 125th anniversary of Marc Chagall's birth in Vitebsk. This was told to a BELTA correspondent at the Vitebsk Regional Museum of Local Lore, where the exhibition of artists from St. Petersburg "Experience" is opening.
The exhibition features installations made of metal, paintings and graphics by 10 young authors who have attempted to convey their experiences, inspired by the works of Marc Chagall, through visual means. At the Art Museum (a branch of the Regional Museum of Local Lore), a vernissage "Homage to Marc Chagall" by the State Museum "Burganov House" (Moscow) will be held. Paintings, graphics, and sculptures are also presented here.
Despite the fact that July 6 is considered Chagall's official birthday, the artist himself celebrated it on July 7. Therefore, in his hometown of Vitebsk, the most significant and interesting events dedicated to the master take place on this day. Townspeople and guests of the city have long loved the meetings "Visiting Mark and Bella" on Pokrovskaya Street, near the artist's house-museum. In the anniversary year, the celebration will encompass the entire Pokrovskaya Street. A special postmark dedicated to the 125th anniversary of Marc Chagall's birth will also be canceled here. The postmark features a portrait of Chagall by his teacher Yuri Pen and an inscription in four languages: Belarusian, English, French, and Yiddish.
And on July 8, Vitebsk will host the premiere screening of the documentary film "Marc Chagall. Unreal Reality," produced by Belvideo-center, and a creative meeting with the film crew and participants will take place. In the Regional Philharmonic Hall, the ensemble of soloists "Classic-Avant-garde" under the direction of Vladimir Baidov will present the musical and theatrical production "Dreams over Vitebsk." The Israeli Cultural Center at the Embassy of the State of Israel in the Republic of Belarus, as part of the festive events in honor of the 125th anniversary of Marc Chagall in Vitebsk, will present the exhibition "In the Footsteps of Chagall in Israel" at the Yanka Kupala National Academic Drama Theater. After the opening of the exhibition, the play "Flights with an Angel" will be staged on the main stage of the Yanka Kupala National Academic Drama Theater. The production is by Honored Artist of Arts, laureate of the State Prize and the President of the Republic of Belarus Prize "For Spiritual Revival," Professor Valery Anisenko. -0-
