Verkhnedvinsk officials set an example for their compatriots in the fight against tobacco

Verkhnedvinsk officials are setting an example for their fellow villagers in the fight against tobacco, said Natalya Kiselevich, head of the ideological work department of the Verkhnedvinsk District Executive Committee, to a BELTA correspondent. For almost two years, no one has smoked in the district executive committee building. The example was set by the chairman of the Verkhnedvinsk District Executive Committee, Igor Markovich, a former heavy smoker. Following his lead, other officials also stopped smoking at work. The initiative of the district executive committee was supported by educational, healthcare, and social service institutions - now there are no designated smoking areas here. Enterprises also did not stand aside and began to encourage their employees to give up the bad habit. In return, they started offering to spend time in the gym, announcing sports hours and renting halls for classes. According to Natalya Kiselevich, in the village of Kokhanovichi, for example, the local school's gym is open until 10 p.m. - not only teenagers but also their parents, employees of the local agricultural production cooperative, work out there. -0-
