Verkhnedvinsk dairy plant will build a whey drying workshop by 2011

The Verkhnedvinsk Butter and Cheese Plant intends to complete the construction of a whey drying workshop by the beginning of 2011, the chief economist of the enterprise, Alexander Shabanov, told a BELTA correspondent. Construction of the workshop at the enterprise began in 2009. The project is being implemented in accordance with the State Program for Processing of Dairy Whey and Production of Dry Milk for 2008-2010. It is planned to allocate about Br14 billion for its implementation. The new workshop is designed to dry 200 tons of whey per day. Equipment has already been delivered from Slovakia. The architectural design of the workshop has passed expert examination. The foundation has been laid, piles have been installed for the future building, and as soon as the weather conditions allowed, the construction of the building's body has begun. Drying of whey, which remains after milk processing, will allow for waste-free production and solve the problems of production waste disposal. Whey is rich in milk proteins, lactoglobulin, lactalbumin, and immunoglobulin. Dry whey is a raw material for the food and pharmaceutical industries, and is used to produce whole milk substitutes in animal husbandry for feeding calves. According to experts' calculations, this product will be in demand in domestic and foreign markets. Part of the dry whey is planned to be exported. The volume of investments in 2009 at the enterprise amounted to Br27.4 billion, which is 5.8 times more than in 2008. In the first quarter of the current year, Br7.4 billion of investments were mastered, which is 4.6 times more than in the same period last year. In 2009, a new cheese production workshop was commissioned at the plant, which can operate autonomously, as it has two own artesian wells and a water deironing system, an autonomous compressor, treatment facilities, and its own boiler house. The second stage of the boiler house reconstruction has been completed. A second boiler has been purchased. The reconstruction was carried out taking into account the new production – a dry whey production workshop. In 2009, the construction of treatment facilities was completed. Dutch closed-type equipment was used during its construction, which will improve the environmental situation in the region. Ultraviolet disinfection of wastewater is also provided. In the near future, it is planned to reconstruct the whole milk products production workshop. The Verkhnedvinsk Butter and Cheese Plant was established in 1964 and was corporatized in 1999. The enterprise specializes in the production of hard rennet cheeses. The share of fatty cheeses in the total volume of production is over 60%. The assortment includes about 60 types of products. For the first quarter of the current year, products worth Br14 billion were produced at comparable prices, which is 18% more compared to the same period last year. The production of consumer goods increased by 28.7% and amounted to Br15.8 billion.-0-
