Verkhnedvinsk Butter and Cheese Factory has begun the construction of a whey drying workshop

Open joint-stock company "Verkhnedvinsk Butter and Cheese Factory" has started the construction of a whey drying workshop, the enterprise director Andrei Bezzubov told a BELTA correspondent. The project is being implemented in accordance with the state program for processing whey and producing dry milk for 2008-2010. It is planned to allocate about Br14 billion for its implementation. The new workshop, the construction of which is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2010, is designed to dry 200 tons of whey per day. As Andrei Bezzubov noted, drying whey, which remains after milk processing, will allow for virtually waste-free production, and solve environmental problems with the disposal of production waste. In addition, dry whey is a raw material for the food and pharmaceutical industries, and is also used for the production of whole milk replacer in animal husbandry for feeding calves. In January-July 2009, the plant produced products worth Br32.6 billion. The growth rate compared to the same period last year exceeded 115%. Revenue from product sales for six months amounted to Br24.4 billion, which is 55.5% more than for the same period in 2008. Open joint-stock company "Verkhnedvinsk Butter and Cheese Factory" was established in 1999 on the basis of the Verkhnedvinsk Butter and Cheese Factory. The state owns 97.7% of the shares.
