The broadcasting of digital television in Vitebsk is planned to be organized in the third quarter of 2009

June 29, Vitebsk / Sergey Kotovets - BELTA /. Digital television broadcasting in Vitebsk is planned to be organized in the III quarter of 2009, the Vitebsk branch of the republican unitary enterprise "Belarusian Television and Radio Broadcasting Center" (RUE "BRTPC") informed a BELTA correspondent. The project is being implemented in accordance with the plan for accelerated implementation of digital television broadcasting in Belarus, developed in accordance with the State Program for the Implementation of Digital Television and Radio Broadcasting until 2015. The project is financed from the innovation fund of the Ministry of Communications. Currently, installation work is underway at the Vitebsk Television and Radio Broadcasting Station. After the installation of the digital television transmitter, 8 programs will be available to Vitebsk residents and residents of the territories adjacent to the regional center on channel 43 in digital format - "Channel One", "ONT", "LAD", "STV", "NTV - Belarus", "RTR - Belarus", "Channel 8", "Mir". The MPEG-4/AVC standard for digital television will be used in Vitebsk. In 2009, digital television became available to residents of the Braslav district. A digital transmitter of the DVB-T standard with MPEG-4/AVC signal compression has been installed at the Braslav Television and Radio Broadcasting Station, which broadcasts 8 programs on channel 43. The calculated service area of the transmitter is 36 km. In addition, this year it is planned to organize terrestrial digital television broadcasting in the settlement of Osveya (Verkhnedvinsk district), where a new transmitting station is to be built. This remote area of the district is outside the reliable reception zone of the existing transmitters. The project is being implemented in accordance with the regional program for the construction, technical re-equipment and expansion of television and radio stations. In the Vitebsk region, residents of Sharkovshchyna district and Orsha can already watch digital television. To receive the digital signal on a regular analog TV, you need a digital set-top box of the corresponding standard. However, analog television broadcasting will continue in parallel with digital broadcasting until the complete transition to digital transmitters in Belarus. The implementation of digital technologies allows not only to increase the number of distributed programs, but also to significantly improve the quality of sound and picture. -0-
