Polotsk gluttons are organizing a fun dumpling-eating festival

A fun event for eating draniki, a national Belarusian dish, will be held in the Polotsk district on September 13, the ideology department of the Polotsk district executive committee told a BELTA correspondent. A dozen rural councils and several enterprises have already applied to participate in the district competition "Glutton-2009", which is held under the motto "He who works well, eats well". A team of three people will compete in three nominations: "Iron Stomach" - for those who eat the most draniki in a certain period of time, "Agile Jaws" - for those who eat the most miniature draniki using a toothpick, and "He who is in time, eats" - the winner of which will be the one who eats a certain portion of this national dish the fastest. Private enterprise "BelKa-Center" has already prepared more than one kilogram of draniki for the contestants, and prizes for the winners are being prepared by the local dairy plant and the Polotsk food processing plant. Of course, for food lovers, food sets will be the best gift. The organizer of this fun competition, which will be held in the village of Goryany, is the district executive committee. As the organizers hope, the event may go beyond the district, as lovers of Belarusian draniki live not only in Belarus. In addition, the tourism sector is actively developing in the district, 4 excursion routes have been developed, one of which includes the village of Goryany. Eating competitions are held all over the world. Pancakes, pizza, pies, and muffins are eaten for speed and quantity. There is even a competition for eating apples without using hands.
