Veterans are the spiritual core of Belarusian society - A. Kosinets
May 6, Vitebsk / Olga Bogacheva - BELTA /. Veterans are the spiritual core of Belarusian society. This opinion was expressed today by the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Alexander Kosinets, at a celebratory reception on the occasion of Victory Day, congratulating veterans of the Great Patriotic War, a BELTA correspondent reports.
"By your personal example, your inflexibility, you have shown what a true patriot of his Motherland should be. Your feat has no statute of limitations," Alexander Kosinets emphasized.
With their bravery and courage, veterans have given a peaceful life to the Belarusian people, so caring for them is an honorable duty for the current generation. Social assistance and support for this most respected category of citizens is one of the most important tasks of the authorities, the head of the region noted. Thus, over the past year, 64 people have improved their housing conditions, and two in the first quarter of this year. Medical care for veterans is organized at a high level.
The successful development of the region allows for providing constant comprehensive support to this category of elderly people. In the first quarter of this year alone, the Vitebsk region has met the targets for gross regional product, sales profitability in agricultural organizations, and the target indicator for energy saving. A stable situation is maintained in the consumer market, and a monthly increase in retail trade turnover through all sales channels, and retail turnover of public catering is ensured.
About 50 people took part in the festive event - partisans, underground fighters, front-line soldiers. In total, about 5.3 thousand veterans live in the Vitebsk region. -0-
