Vitebsk Biopharma Factory's veterinary serum has been certified in Turkey

May 14, Vitebsk / Diana Kurilo - BELTA /. The Vitebsk Biopharmaceutical Plant has successfully certified a serum for veterinary use in Turkey, as stated today at a meeting of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee by the plant's director Arkady Yudasin, according to a BELTA correspondent. The enterprise intends to further develop the Turkish market. Five more types of products are undergoing certification in this country. According to Arkady Yudasin, foreign buyers are interested in new developments of Belarusian production. However, what is currently offered by scientists for production at the Vitebsk Biopharmaceutical Plant does not meet modern requirements, the enterprise director claims. Thus, out of 13 biotechnologies proposed for development, 10 are outdated. The modern technological equipment that the biopharmaceutical plant possesses allows for the production of new-generation drugs. Large-scale reconstruction work began in 2006. Over Br100 billion has already been invested in its implementation. The reconstruction includes the construction of a main production complex with a total area of 18.7 thousand square meters and the equipping of new production facilities with modern technological equipment, which will subsequently allow for certification in accordance with GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) requirements, thereby increasing the enterprise's export potential. Upon completion of the reconstruction in 2009, the enterprise will produce Br40 billion worth of marketable products, half of which will be import-substituting. As early as 2010, the biopharmaceutical plant plans to master the production of veterinary viral vaccines, which have not been produced in Belarus before. The import-substituting drugs are intended for the protection of livestock and poultry against viral infections. The Vitebsk Biopharmaceutical Plant was founded in 1930. It specializes in the production of complex therapeutic, prophylactic, and diagnostic preparations for veterinary medicine. According to the results of the first quarter of 2009, the production growth rate compared to the corresponding period of 2008 was 123.1%. Products worth Br2.3 billion were produced at comparable prices. The enterprise's net profit in the first quarter was Br70 million, with a profitability of 12%. -0-
